The Fault In Our Stars by John Green
First and foremost, this book is extraordinary. John Green's writing style is not one that beats around the bush, he is upfront and honest. The novel is written for teenagers but so many adults have fallen in love with the tragic tale of Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters, but I'm not here to talk about any other person who has read it, I'm here to talk about my thoughts on it.
Even though The Fault In Our Stars is a fictional novel, it hit me on an emotional level. John Green made it to where I felt that I knew Hazel Grace and Augustus. The rawness of the book made it 10 times better because it was truthful. It wasn't your everyday cancer novel where the main character started a foundation to raise money for other cancer patients and then had a life changing miracle. No. This book isn't a fairytale book, it actually has events that could happen in real life. It made you feel everything along with Hazel and it was so powerful. I remember I came to a particularly emotional chapter after a French test and crying while everyone else was taking their test. It was a good kind of crying though. It wasn't the end of the world type crying; it was more of a type of crying that was borne from a moving, powerful, and emotional piece of literature. This is one of the 4-5 novels that have actually made me cry so it was definitely good to say the least. I would recommend this novel to anyone who loves to read, it is an exquisite, modern day love story that will leave you in tears when it's over.
